As you probably know, Meraki who has become a Kevin Murphy session salon in 2019, has been a long-time supporter and fan of Kevin Murphy.  From their products, packaging, and branding to being advocates for environmental and human justice, what’s not to love?  Recently they’ve introduced one more reason, with the release of their reclaimed ocean waste packaging. This is projected to save 360 TONS of plastic from the ocean each year.

We all know there’s trash in the ocean, and that something has to be done about it.  But do we know *how* bad it really is?  Here’s some statistics from KM themselves:

1) Every minute one garbage truck of plastic is dumped in our ocean.  8 million tons of plastic enter our oceans each year.

2) A staggering 150 million TONS of plastic currently litter our oceans.

3) The world produces 300 million tons of plastic ever year.

4) More than 95% of all plastic packaging is used only once.

5) By the year 2050 there will be more plastic than fish by weight in the oceans.

These are shocking numbers, and hard-fathom-facts. But they’re real. We try our best at Meraki to contribute consciously to our world, our environment, and ultimately all of you.
